Wanted a Tesla so badly when I was younger. Bought an electric last year and went with Subaru because:
a. I don't trust Tesla's autopilot, specifically the car's ability to accelerate.
b. The subaru solterra was more comfortable for me.
c. I live in an area where I need to go off road, the Subaru seemed a better fit
d. Subaru dind't have a CEO saying incredibly childish things constantly so I could take them seriously.
Ultimately that last point was a big deal. My wife doesn't believe a word out of that dudes mouth, and neither do I anymore I guess compared to how I used to be. So, seemed crazy to buy a car from him.
I like my Subaru, would buy again. Guess I'm an ad now.
I'm just some dumbass who was buying a car, and that's largely what I went off of.
- catchnear4321 3y agothe further you are from the output, the less annoying he gets. the rockets can be pretty neat.
- piva00 3y agoSpaceX is doing really impressive stuff, even with Elon's named attached to it I can still root for their team and their efforts, results speak for themselves and every time I see their boosters landing I feel the same as I felt from their first synchronised landing: this is fucking sci-fi happening in real life. Hopefully his meddling is contained there, would hate to see them become as tainted as Tesla has...
- ohnoitsahuman 3y agoIf you don't like Tesla because of it's leadership, I recommend you don't research Subaru's leadership. Very much not aligned with the far left, but they'll take their money.
- mindslight 3y agoYou realize there are more dimensions to the world than political left-right, correct?
- catchnear4321 3y agodo you assume that everyone that describes musk as acting or talking like a child would be far left? or is this a subaru generalization?
- mft_ 3y agoI really struggle with this, which seems to be an odd extrapolation of the pervasive celebrity culture we have nowadays. Take politics, for example: I dislike the idea that politicians must be impressive and charismatic. What I really want a politician to be is a dull, smart, earnest, grey person who does an exceptionally good job of making decisions on running my country. I don’t want to raving egoist in the slightest, and it shouldn’t matter what I think of that individual personally if their output is excellent. Similarly, while I agree that Musk is becoming more and more objectionable with time, I don’t understand why that is a factor in the objective decision of buying a car. Don’t like autopilot? Fine, buy another brand. Need 4x4 capability? Fine, buy an another brand. But if Tesla was the best choice for your needs (and I believe in many cases, it may be) then not buying it simply because of the odd behaviour of one individual seems incomprehensible. It’s a car. A lump of metal engineered to move you around. It’s not a manifestation of anyone’s emotions or worldview. Further, I suspect there are many many objectionable individuals in significant positions in many of the companies we purchase from; perhaps the only major difference is that they are simply not as high-profile as Musk.
- nojvek 3y agoIt’s not odd behavior. Tesla misadvertises many features esp Autopilot.
