Don't Use Google Analytics

  Opinions will for sure differ because there is no "official" legislation on this, and laws continue evolving in this terms, as the web moves fast too. Anyways, I would suggest adding our software Publytics (https://publytics.net https://publytics.net) among the list of potential alternatives, as it is privacy-friendly too and offers a very easy to use UX for both expert and non-expert users.

    It true that there is a new contract between EU and USA to allow accessing and storing data of EU-citizens in/from the USA. But that contract will probably be declared illegal by a court, just like the last times.
