I take it you're not from CA. Anyone who lives here has seen Caltrans workers, and instantly understands why it costs so much to do so little. If you don't have at least 5 people standing around the hole watching 1 guy dig, it isn't Caltrans work.
- gertop 3y agoWhat you say might be true but even if we use hyperbole and pretend they have 10,000 employed full time doing absolutely nothing and getting paid 60k/yr, let's say with overhead costing 100k/yr each to the state, that's still only $1B/year... Where's the rest going?
- MichaelZuo 3y agoFully burdened cost is way way more than $100k/year for Caltrans.
