Forgot to mention this but https://nanos.org https://nanos.org is also related with https://nanovms.com https://nanovms.com (to deploy unikernels) and ops.city (which handles the package distributions), so it's like a whole ecosystem.
I wonder why Alpine linux won over this though?
- bluepizza 3y agoBecause Linux containers solve most of the problems to a satisfying degree, and are much simpler to develop.
- eyberg 3y agoSo I had to look this up but Alpine has been in under development since 2005. Nanos has only been in development since 2018.
- Alifatisk 3y agoNanos yes, but Unikernel no. I think it started 2013? But your point still stands.
- jcgrillo 3y agoSome things in [1] might provide answers. To be fair, from a cursory look at [2], many of the concerns from [1] appear to be addressed--or at least works in progress--in [2]. I also enjoyed [3] on this topic. [1] https://bcantrill.dtrace.org/2016/01/22/unikernels-are-unfit-for-production/ https://bcantrill.dtrace.org/2016/01/22/unikernels-are-unfit...
