I'm currently taking class for the EMT, and it is _brutal_ to sit through lectures for just 4 hours. That's even with a 10 minute break every hour. For a subject I'm intensely interested in. Lectures are scientifically proven by educators to be the worst method of learning, yet our schools do it anyway. I'd honestly assume conspiracy if all the teachers I know didn't just shrug and say "who cares, it's what everyone expects, and it's easy, so..."
