The seats are sitting on rails and can be adjusted.
- sinuhe69 3y agoYes, but how could it relate to the nosediving by just adjusting the seat?
- iapark 3y agoWell if you’re holding a yoke and the seat moves forward you’re likely to push on the yoke
- timw4mail 3y agoIt really is that simple.
- matt-attack 3y agoSeems unlikely they’d be holding the yolk during cruise.
- t0mas88 3y agoIn smaller planes with mechanical adjustable seats instead of electrical there have been several accidents due to the seat moving unexpectedly. So much that the FAA has made regular inspection of the seat rails mandatory for a long list of Cessna models: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2010/11/08/2010-28158/airworthiness-directives-cessna-aircraft-company-models-150-152-170-172-175-177-180-182-185-188-190 https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2010/11/08/2010-28...
- sio8ohPi 3y agoTypically this happens during take-off when rotating. This particular failure mode doesn't make much sense for an airliner in cruise.
