If US bans TikTok then other countries should ban US apps because they can be used for spying and manipulation of public opinion the same way. Either a country makes its own apps or it becomes a subject to foreign influence.
- its_ethan 3y agoI think you'll find that essentially all US social media is already banned in China...
- criddell 3y agoOther countries do ban US apps. For example, Twitter/X is banned in China, Iran, Russia, North Korea, and a few other countries.

- criddell 3y agoI don't see it as being significantly different from our laws prohibiting foreign ownership of tv and radio stations.
- aprilthird2021 3y agoIt's very different. There are tons of foreign owned apps and websites, like Spotify for example. Are we going to force them to become an American company too?
