People eat, sleep and watch Netflix in their spare time because they're dedicating their thoughtful useful hours to work. A friend of mine is on long term disability support payments, when he was doing full time work he was a couch potato in his spare time and I couldn't ever get him to join in on hobbies with me. Now that he doesn't work he's producing music and painting and he picked both up eagerly from casual interest and to escape surplus free time.
