As far as I can tell DMA doesn’t strictly require alternative app stores. It only requires that there were ways to get apps on your phone without having to go through Apple’s App Store. And it seems no app store is a compliant option as Apple just today announced direct app downloads from the web. So this whole comlex process with alternate app store rules, applications, APIs is another mess Apple made for themselves.
