True story from the late 1990s: I once brought in one of our developers to turn down the amount of logging our app was doing because we had run out of disk space the previous night as a result of the logging being voluminous, and not particularly helpful. He came up to the client site, studiously worked on the issue, and left later that afternoon. Two days later we ran out of disk space again. The root cause: log messages stating that a log message had been deliberately deleted… Sigh…
