I've used the ASCII delimiters in a webapp once; Javascript in the browser formatted data with them and sent it to my server via HTTP POSTs. I was a bit nervous that something in the path would break the data but happily it all just worked fine.
- adammarples 3y agoCurrently saving the day in a data pipeline project which depends on a tool which only exports unescaped csvs. They work very well through the pipeline, Unix split, awk, and then snowflake all support them nicely. One annoying thing is that they are annoying to type and you never quite know if you need to refer to them using octal, hex or what, and what special shell escaping might be used.
