"Always wait for a point release". It seems for this we need to wait for the _next_ point release. It should become clearer for EU side of the movement also - it is far from certain that Apple to be the one f*cked.
- nottorp 3y agoI don't trust the EU much to fix the things that I personally care about indeed. Namely: unrestricted access for new, small entrants. Less restrictions on utilities. Stuff like that. My favourite pet example: I want DaisyDisk for iOS. What does Cook need threatening with to allow that?
- andersa 3y agoThat's actually exactly what the DMA is supposed to solve. So maybe you just need to wait.
- nottorp 3y agoI don't know about my pet. It would need full storage access, and even I agree that keeping apps separate from each other is a good idea, security wise. I don't see how you can argue against that when you're considering monopoly issues. On the other hand, Apple not allowing apps not approved by them and not allowing manual single app installs without going through their app store or some other app store does look to me like a monopoly issue.
- coldtea 3y agoAre you sure you want iOS? Perhaps you want Android? Sounds like you just want the iPhone hardware, but not the spirit of the OS that contributed to what it is. Adding manual disk management makes more like running Windows XP than a smooth "mostly just works" phone.
- nottorp 3y agoWell, if Apple's space usage report would be more detailed and made sense, maybe I wouldn't need it. But... "Other" ?
