Since big tech decided to censor so many things off of youtube, etc, it's one of the few places you can actually find out what's going on in warzones and other places that are not big tech reality compliant.
As but one example, the difference in what Ukraine bloggers are able to put on youtube today vs 2 years ago is stunning. They get banned and demonetized for the most picayune reasons. They're all using media such as telegram now.
In the past, actual news organizations would cover that sort of thing, but their attention on things has always been fickle and selective. These days they tend to only report items that support a narrative they want to promote.
