Rnote – An open-source vector-based drawing app
- smoldesu 3y agoI highly recommend Rnote to anyone on Linux that misses the "hodgepodge" notetaking of apps like OneNote. It works like a dream on touchscreens and drawing tablets, with a surprising amount of configuration available for those who need it. Also worth noting is Xournal, an older but similar project: https://xournalpp.github.io/ https://xournalpp.github.io/
- dotancohen 3y agoAny suggestions for an Android app that easily exports to PDF? I would like the file format to be vector internally, but backup weekly to PDF.
- smoldesu 3y agoHaven't tried it, but I did stumble across this while searching for Xournal: https://github.com/saber-notes/saber https://github.com/saber-notes/saber Edit: just tried it, tap-and-hold on a note brings up a share menu that lets you select PDF. Hopefully that helps!
- pinusc 3y agoThank you for sharing this! I've been searching for a good open-source handwriting app with pen and pdf support on android, and this is by far the most functional I've seen. Actually good enough to start taking notes on my tablet.
- lf-non 3y agoButterfly can export to pdf/svg and is quite feature rich. https://github.com/LinwoodDev/Butterfly https://github.com/LinwoodDev/Butterfly
- abdullahkhalids 3y agoPlease note that the original app was Xournal [1]. The one you link is a rewrite of the orignal (in C++) and is called Xournal++. [1] https://xournal.sourceforge.net/ https://xournal.sourceforge.net/
- sirjaz 3y agoThis is great to see another cross-platform native"local install" app. I am sick of webapps.
- orbital-decay 3y agoGreat application when used with a display tablet. Lacks handwriting recognition, though.
- jvan 3y agoWarning for Linux users, it's only available packaged as a flatpak. Otherwise it requires Meson to build.
- m01 3y agoArch has it packaged: https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/rnote/ https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/rnote/
- cozzyd 3y agoLooks nice, but I would be quite wary of using this for anything other than ephemeral work until the file format is stable (or at least backwards compatibility is implemented?).
