- Symmetry 3y agoAnd more importantly, anaerobic life arose on Earth first and plausibly the jump from a lifeless planet to anaerobic life took an order of magnitude less time than the evolution of photosynthesis did. Because of that and given how much more common subsurface liquid water is than surface liquid water in our solar system I wouldn't be surprised if anaerobic life was drastically more common than aerobic life in the universe.
