I believe that this article means speed when it says pressure.
A showerhead (unless it has a pump in it) cannot increase water pressure, but it can increase the speed water comes out. It does this by creating a restriction, which actually decreases the water pressure, causing higher speed.
- cassianoleal 3y agoCan you expand on this please? I'm not a physicist so I'm going off high school physics, anecdotes and gut feel. I would think that by restricting the flow on the shower head, the pressure inside it would increase. That in turn should cause the higher speed of the water that actually comes out of it, and this increased speed should cause greater pressure where it hits compared to the lower speed version. Am I misunderstanding the meaning of pressure, or is there some other parameter I haven't considered?
- bryanlarsen 3y agoA water outlet such as a shower relieves the pressure generated at the pump. A more restricted outlet doesn't provide as much relief, in effect increasing the pressure.
