I just tried to build a c program for an Arduino to display some text on a screen. It needed a lot of work to get it to work. That’s not to say that it couldn’t have been coerced into being right through prompts, but it’s a reminder that LLMs are not thinking. You still need someone who understands not only what is wanted, but why it looks the way it does. I suspect that most of this stuff will end up like syntactic sugar: Something that makes our work easier, but not fundamentally replace us.
