- justinsaccount 3y agoIt doesn't just look similar, it looks like it IS the ms-01, with a new name and inflated price.
- c_o_n_v_e_x 3y agoNothing wrong with white labelling and marking up, assuming you provide some kind of value add like service. SimplyNUC has an actual phone number and physical addresses. I can't find either on the Minisforum site.
- justinsaccount 3y agoA comment on their youtube video says: > if you were to spec them the same, the Minisforum costs a whopping $829 vs $1499 for the Onyx Pro I agree that dealing with a local US company is nice on paper, but not sure what value you'd be getting for almost twice as much. If you were planning on doing something like buying 4 of them for a cluster, you could get 7 for the same price..
- c_o_n_v_e_x 3y agoFair enough.. that's a reasonable mark up.
- gorkish 3y agoHow do you come to that conclusion? It does not appear to be reasonable in the slightest. It's an OEM box, so it's not likely that you are paying for any direct engineering/lifecycle support. The additional ~70% markup doesn't justify what is basically a better hardware warranty. At that point it's better to just buy some spare hardware to keep around. Hopefully this is all just preliminary and we get some sanity back by the time the options and ordering is ready.
- c_o_n_v_e_x 3y agoI am agreeing with the parent comment that you could afford 7 minis for 4 SNs. Reasonable was an incorrect word choice.
