Given the recent release of Dune 2, and the Apple+ Foundation series, I thought this would be a good topic to re-up. I note that the Apple+ series played up a kind of "prescience" ability and "savior" trope in Salvor Hardin that seems far more at home in the Dune universe than in Asimov's original fiction. Note that Salvor differs greatly in the series from the original books in many ways. Far beyond gender, Salvor in the books was more of a political operator, manipulating factions and faiths to the needs of the Foundation. The character in the series comes off far more of a political naif; this role is given instead to Hari Seldon. However, Salvor is where we get the famous Asimov quote "violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." https://asimov.fandom.com/wiki/Salvor_Hardin https://asimov.fandom.com/wiki/Salvor_Hardin
