Fun statistical analysis, though I have to wonder how they behave outside of voting records. Does the Canadian multiparty system involve a lot of coalition-building like we see in European legislatures? I don't recall ever hearing about a Canadian government failing to achieve a majority, falling, and requiring new elections. Would it be reasonable to describe the Anglo Westminster-descended democracies as having party systems that are half-way between the American duopoly and "true" Continental multiparty systems? (It also seems like the presence of the Quebecois parties and the SNP are more due to unique regional histories than a strong desire to have more than two choices.)
