Tell HN: Stripe stole $92k of our funds
Stripe closed our account acct_1MkFytH26i9pIPAy on Oct 18th and told us they will hold our funds for 120 days (4 months) and then will payout remaining balance to our bank even though we had no risk to them (no dispute, no refund) and we were helping other Stripe merchants to get users for the exchange of % of their sales
During this 4 months, we had 0 disputes, 0 refunds which is incredible
And Feb 25th this 4 months ended and now it is March 8th and we are being ignored, they say they won't pay us and there are $92k in our balance as there was no event like dispute or refund decreasing our balance
So they effectively STOLE our funds
what you can call them other than thieves!!!
I want them to respond to me and pay my funds otherwise, I will taking all sorts of actions not limited to legal

- caseysoftware 3y agoAssuming this is true, you should write a blog post or similar with a few screencaps and link to that. It'd make it easier to share, quote, link to and submit here. Then it won't disappear either.

- userclickbase 3y agoGood idea, should I use https://medium.com/ https://medium.com/ and then share another post or how?
- rvz 3y agoAnother case study of HN being used as a Stripe customer service desk, with Stripe locking funds of its businesses. Let's see how fast this post gets with either someone from Stripe resolving the issue or the whole post getting shut down.
- userclickbase 3y agoyes but how are we supposed to tell our issues, it is like dictator torturing your people and you need somewhere to talk so people see Dictator's actions
- Tomte 3y ago> we were helping other Stripe merchants to get users for the exchange of % of their sales What does that mean? I got a hunch that this is the crux. > I will taking all sorts of actions not limited to legal Vague and unspecific threats (but specific enough to definitely mean extrajudicial) seem to me like a really great idea in America! They are so calm and laid-back in these things.

- Tomte 3y agoThat's just the same as you wrote above, not an answer.

- Tomte 3y agoThe question mark shows where the question is: > What does that mean? The rest of your screed just makes you look bad. Google for my name and Stripe on Hacker News, I've been highly critical of them in the past. It just looks more and more like [edit: here was an unfair and unconstructive remark — I apologize!]
- userclickbase 3y agohow I can be criminal if Stripe is the one who stole my funds and I have 0 disputes? you need to talk with facts, proofs please, you can call people criminal if they have huge amount of disputes but all the proofs show facts are on my side, your feelings about me being bad does not equal to reality
- userclickbase 3y ago> we were helping other Stripe merchants to get users for the exchange of % of their sales This means: we used Stripe Standard Connect, and you as Stripe user can connect your account to ours, and we do marketing on your behalf with no upfront fees and once customer we bring pays you we charge % from your sales. I do not know what exactly you are looking for but this is as technical as it gets except you are looking for specific codes how this works
- willcate 3y agoIf I was in your shoes and those things happened, I would make it known to all the tech blogs and 'zines. Even if Stripe doesn't care about you, they do care about bad publicity.

- JohnFen 3y agoFor that amount of money? Just sue them and get it over with. If the case is as clear-cut as you state, they'll almost certainly settle with you as soon as they receive notice of the lawsuit. You would be unlikely to even have to go to court.
- chronicfunds 3y agoStripe put my business on a MATCH list for fraud. A MATCH list is a list that blocks you from running any business for 5 years. Our fraud was low, so I asked them why they did this, and they said it was an accident...
