I serve content from my own repository for my Turntable.FM chrome extension. Since the bulk of the code is JS, I just dynamically load the file from the github repo. What's great about this method is the ability to update most parts of the plugin without needing to repackage the extension and upload back to the store. I work off separate branches for my local testing and updates and then merge into master when it's ready for showtime.
