I think we've way over done the 'general intelligence' part of AI already, that is already 'super general intelligence'. What's lacking is agency/autonomy. I have a bad feeling even 'general autonomy' will take a fraction of the power we're already using which means 'super autonomy'... is probably already possible. Which means ASI soonish.. which leads to uncontrolled ASI either deliberately or accidently.. which means.. well it's out of our hands at that point. Anything can happen.
