I Built an Algorithmic Trading System in Rust. Here's What I Regret
- StarksTech 3y agoI wrote this article! I’d be happy to get some feedback, particularly on my examples I used. Some people on Reddit say I should’ve included more concrete code snippets; is that a general consensus or do people have different opinions?
- eimrine 3y agoI appreciate your article! I am interested in writing tradebots, and hope you have an article which describes your algorithm of NextTrade/NexusTrade. I like your style of writing but I am too beginner to understand the algo from the code. Thanks for gifting your work to people!
- npalli 3y agoThe fact that the poster had difficulty rewriting the code in Rust points to the big issue with Rust. I noticed the vast majority of code written in Rust tends to be re-writes of exiting products. Yet, people have difficulty getting it out in time. Which points to general poor productivity of Rust. Just imagine the OP tried to create the trading system without any reference to begin with?? It would have been much harder to work through the options and tradeoffs since it takes so long for the damn code to compile. Funnily, the responses from /rust group on reddit is typical. You 'are not holding it right' logic types. Some will claim Rust is the most natural way to write code, easier and faster than Python! Rust evangelism is another level.
