- hellorashid 3y agoi love this kinda interactive documentation, its so great to be able to tinker as you learn. well done!

- codetrotter 3y ago> Anyone is free to copy, modify, publish, use, compile, sell, or distribute the original SQLite code, either in source code form or as a compiled binary, for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial, and by any means. https://www.sqlite.org/copyright.html https://www.sqlite.org/copyright.html
- ncruces 3y agoIt's like to see this (taken from the front page) explained: “Backed by the creator of SQLite.”
- dankebitte 3y ago> Dr. Richard Hipp (the SQLite author) is one of our shareholders, and we have the right to use the SQLite name. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35251099 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35251099
- ncruces 3y agoIt'd be great if that was visible on the site, beyond the single marketing sentence. I mean, instead of being a credibility booster (which this is, actually), it immediately triggered my BS detector.

- avinassh 3y agoThis is a great idea! On a related note, I love how nalgeon [0] has interactive blog posts [1] on SQLite release notes using WASM magic [0] - https://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=nalgeon https://news.ycombinator.com/user?id=nalgeon [1] - https://antonz.org/sqlite-3-45/ https://antonz.org/sqlite-3-45/
- james-bcn 3y agoNice. But with regards to the SQLite cloud, it annoys the hell out of me that so many of this type of site hide their pricing. It makes no sense to me at all. It just puts me off signing up to test services if I don't know the pricing.
- Ringz 3y agoMaybe the result of some short sighted AB testing. I hate that to but I have to admit that I tend to close the tab as fast as possible seeing some prices that don’t correlate with the „amount of benefits“ at that concrete moment. So they try to bind you as long as possible to raise that amount through the „good price“ threshold.
- sanitycheck 3y agoPricing information is the first thing I look for, and if I don't find it I assume it's nowhere near reasonable and close the tab. Back to the topic of the post, I like the idea and it's definitely a good addition to the standard sqlite docs which can be a little dry/dense in places. It'd be nice if we had some sort of inline DB-browser type view too so we could see what the commands we run actually did without resorting to writing select statements before and after the example. Also not sure why I have to click 'show' to see the command syntax.
- rmbyrro 3y agoEven harder to understand is if you need high concurrency, multi-node replication, pub/sub capabilities, etc, what is the point of using SQLite in the first place? I love SQLite, but don't let love blind out technical decisions, folks. There are much better, battle-tested tools to solve these problems.

- infecto 3y agoAt that point why not use something like Postgres?
- invernomut0 3y agoIt seems interesting but I think I prefer to keep another tab with https://www.db-fiddle.com/ https://www.db-fiddle.com/ to experiment with the syntax.
- marcobambini 3y agoHi all. SQLite Cloud's founder here. Our service is still in beta. We'll announce pricing as soon as we're out of the beta phase. There is no marketing strategy at all here, we are just developing one step at a time.

- russfink 3y agoWhat is the educational pricing plan? Is there something that is free for small databases that load/exec entirely in the browser?
- carl_dr 3y ago> Real-Time Query Execution: Write your SQL queries and see the results instantly. Whether you're retrieving data, performing joins, or modifying tables, the Interactive SQLite Console provides immediate feedback. Types DELETE FROM table ... Oh I presume you have a commit step or something?
- emadda 3y ago> Backed by the creator of SQLite. Is this from the SQLite developers?
- jpgvm 3y agoNot exactly no. None of the core SQLite devs seem to have touched this. They do however claim that Dr Hipp is an investor which if true certainly does lend a lot of credibility.
- edublancas 3y agoYou can get this for pretty much any language by re-using Jupyter kernels; here's a Python example: https://hidden-truth-8699.ploomberapp.io/ https://hidden-truth-8699.ploomberapp.io/
