How China Is Churning Out EVs Faster Than Everyone Else

- jkic47 3y agoThanks for posting the link. I've seen this blazing speed in other industries in China. I still remember sharing a concept for a product at my first meeting with our Chinese branch and leaving town for a tour of other plants. By the time we got back, there was a prototype. Was it perfect? Absolutely not, but it kind-of worked, and gave us a much stronger sense of where the technical risks lay. Their drive to deliver was admirable. Success in making good quality EVs in one of the world's largest markets is good for everyone. Pity we are considering tariffs instead of competing.
- chiefalchemist 3y agoThe isn't so much how as why. The answer to why, is that EVs undermine the petrodollar economic system (which is key to sustaining the USA as the economic lead dog / home wrecker). China is thinking ahead. The Status Quo much less so.
- Log_out_ 3y agoThe world uses the dollar because the imperial system behind it was benevolent for trade and not intended on conquest of territory. that reasoning is not going away with petrol, if any thing it got stronger with everyone being able to see what China and Russia are truly after. They just can't have anything stand up and over the capital in these old horrible empires. Meanwhile in the west SK and Japanese culture partially eclipsed the US.. And the world doesn't end.
- chiefalchemist 3y agoRead Lyn Alden's "Broken Money" you'll get a very different perspective. There's not much benevolence in the current petrodollar system. It effectively enslaves smaller economies to decisions of The Fed; then add in the World Bank and the IMF and the economic death grip tightens. Petrodollars are a heavy thumb on the scale. Alter the strength of that system and the world order changes. That is, sovereign states become sovereign. Smaller economies are victimized far less often. - Log_out_ 3y agoAh the multipolar dream: the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, the baltics, Armenia, the kurds, they all try to wake up from that nightmare. Turns out gradual improvement in enslavement is preferable to actual enslavement..
