I don't like git. I appreciate that it's great in certain very distributed environments; but I'm still using SVN, because my projects are not distributed, and I can do without the opacity of git. The biggest whoopsie with SVN, in my experience, was "externals". That was both a bodge and a footgun, and got me into trouble more than once.
