I always uncheck the “email me news” checkbox on Stripe checkout screens and without fail end up on their newsletter within a day. It’s gotten to the point I have to attribute it to malice and not incompetence on the part of these awful marketing people. If I tell you I don’t want to be contacted and you do it anyways it should come with business-destroying fines or jail time.
