Planes change last minute all the time to deal with unexpected arrival delays. I don’t think they have any requirement to keep the same aircraft type.

According to [Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Airlines_fleet https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Airlines_fleet), they have 65 Max 9s and their total fleet size is only 314 planes. They’re in an unfortunate position here. If they ground 1/5 of their fleet for a prolonged period of time, it would cause a lot of flight cancelations and customers would be pissed. On the other hand, even jf they check over all the planes and take precautions, customers don’t want to fly on the planes and are pissed.
