As they strive to cut costs, European carmakers feel they are insufficiently supported by governments, whose decarbonisation policies have forced them to develop the battery vehicles at which China excels.
Why do the European carmakers need to 'block' Chinese imports?
Can't they compete enough on their own merits?
Stupid European sanctions on cheaper Russian energy mean that the European manufacturers can no longer compete on cost. They are not long for this world.

Old business saying: "Never let your ego get in the way of your cash flow." which is exactly what the sanctions on cheap energy did. Chinese manufacturers will now eat the European manufacturers for lunch. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people.
