SEEKING WORK | REMOTE | GMT -0300 (Rio) | Senior Backend Engineer (25y+ Linux / 14y+ Python) Senior Backend Engineer interested in freelancing and consulting in my spare time (approx ~8-10hr/week). I have been using computers for the last 30 years, with a deep understanding of how internals work, and I approach problem-solving meticulously. Give me your hard problems, and I'll crack them for you, providing a stable and dependable solution path. I don't like creating crufty/hacky stuff just to tick checkboxes or guarantee a paycheck. I've been programming since the days of Turbo Pascal 6.0, and I genuinely enjoy what I do; it's a passion for me, not just a money grab. If you need someone who will do it right, I'm your guy (I have references, should you need them). I am also a firm believer in "radical candor" and will be a no-bullshit, stable, direct communicator at all times. I will always tell you what I am thinking and what I truly believe will improve your issue, maintaining a high SNR and low drama environment. I will respect your sensibilities and shortcomings and will help you overcome whatever obstacles you're facing, without exploiting your weaknesses or knowledge gaps. Please feel free to bring up any topic you believe I might be able to help with — there are no forbidden subjects and no stupid questions. If you have a can of worms and need an extra set of unbiased eyes, I can do that too. Technologies: Linux (25+ years), Python (14+ years), Rust (4+ years), SQLAlchemy, Postgres, Redis, GCP, FastAPI, Flask, AWS, Terraform, Docker, Github Actions, Datadog, Elasticsearch, C# Some stuff I've created: - Built backends from scratch in Flask/FastAPI for the educational sector and the biotechnology space. - Open-source library for easy handling of soft deletion in SQLAlchemy, nearing 100k monthly downloads: https://pypistats.org/packages/sqlalchemy-easy-softdelete https://pypistats.org/packages/sqlalchemy-easy-softdelete - Fully procedural infinite world generation experiment with Rust+Webassembly: https://chinese-warriors.flipbit.consulting/ https://chinese-warriors.flipbit.consulting/ (Move around with WASD and press Q/E) - Cryptography for an application in the medical sector - Countless Linux deployments, network services, VPNs, file servers (including Perforce for the art industry), ... I love to learn, and studying is a daily activity for me. If you give me an interesting problem, I'll study until I understand it well enough to create a stable solution for you; it's that simple. Rate: $60USD/hr, or $500USD/day for an 8-hour Saturday slot. I have an LLC and all the legal framework ready for contracting.
