Investors, at any stage.
They seem to only invest in those who they know in the valley, ex-FAANG, ex-Ivy League or Stanford, and do not consider anybody else who doesn't fit that they cannot easily pattern match.
And I don't even need that much money to raise, just ~$2M to boot.
It's hard out there.

Most VCs beyond angel investor size are looking for bets to move the needle. Have you considered bootstrapping? If you think you need 2m you can likely bootstrap an mvp with 1% or 10% of that. Key takeaway: asking for that much in the valley is at least as much of a reason to be passed over vs getting passed over because of the whole background non-ivy league thing.
