There are so many confounding variables, I'm not sure where to start. White men tend to be taller than many other ethnicities. How does it correlate with family wealth - growing up malnourished stumps your growth - short people are probably more likely to be poor. I can well imagine a real effect. Tall people have more of a presence and gravitas which can't hurt, but without any further analysis, this is barely an anecdote.
