Reminds me of the secret "Land of the Lost" "valley of the dinosaurs" found in Australia with the living fossil tree the "Wollemi Pine".
It's a valley which was sort of cut off from the rest of the world.
The location is kept secret.

- adolph 3y agoI felt an electric shock when I realized the size of it -- 43 feet in circumference and 16 feet across. This is an interesting measure. A circle with diameter of 16 would have a circumference of 50. For an ellipse with a wide dimension of 16, the short dimension would be 11.2 to have a circumference of 43. I wonder why the tree grew in such an odd shape. Was it double-trunked? The image references were broken when I accessed the article. The Wayback Machine has a low resolution photo. Looks like it might have a trunk split way up there? https://web.archive.org/web/20160205052143/https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/artful-amoeba/the-lost-valley-of-the-wollemi-pine/ https://web.archive.org/web/20160205052143/https://blogs.sci...
- satori99 3y agoI have one in a pot in my yard. It was bought as a seedling and is now almost 2m tall. There were only about 100 specimens in the valley when it was discovered in the 90s, but now they exist all over the world in peoples gardens. https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/it-started-with-100-plants-in-a-secret-sydney-canyon-now-they-re-popping-up-all-around-the-world-20230802-p5dtan.html https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/it-started-with-100-plan...
