Max Developer Edition Preview
- givemeethekeys 3y agoI'm having trouble figuring out what MAX is from the website. Would someone please chime in?
- ashvardanian 3y agoMAX is a runtime for serving neural networks. It’s designed by Modular, tightly integrated with the Mojo programming language, and the MLIR/LLVM compiler ecosystem.
- smoldesu 3y ago> MAX comes in two editions -- a free Developer Edition for local development and experimentation, and an Enterprise Edition for production usage. A product, in charitable terms.
- NikkiA 3y ago'max' and 'modular' made me think it was something Cycling'74 related at first, but it's not that, damned name collisions.
- DinaCoder99 3y agoI think they bought HBO a couple years back.
- bitwize 3y ago> Mojo: The world’s first programming language built from the ground up for AI development John McCarthy has entered the chat.
- frfl 3y agoWell actually seems like Allen Newell, Cliff Shaw, and Herbert A. Simon need to enter the chat > Information Processing Language was the first AI language, from 1955 or 1956, and already included many of the concepts, such as list-processing and recursion, which came to be used in Lisp. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisp_(programming_language)#History https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisp_(programming_language)#Hi...
- tehsauce 3y agoStill no GPU support. They are nowhere near a MVP.
- dragonwriter 3y agoPretty bold to launch a product that is an AI runtime sold as "delivering immediate performance gains" with GPU support "coming soon". Also, Mojo is nowhere near "the first language built from the ground up for AI development". It might be the first built from the ground up targeting the current popular flavors of AI approaches, but...that's a much less impressive statement.
- nojito 3y agoThis is because they target MLIR.
