I confirm that “months” seems the right time range for me (accessing from Brazil). I open HN, idk, 10 or 20 times a day, I would guess I see the error message around 5 to 10 times a week.

Do you have a VPN you can try on? I run a VPN connected to a San Fran server 24/7 on my mac and I very very rarely have issued with HN (or any internet issues at all tbh).
