Why Are We Screwing over Researchers Who Make Innovative Discoveries?
- stop50 3y agoIn my opinion there should be a limit what universities can patent if it was funded by public money. Some medical treatments are unnessesary expensive because of this.

- quantified 3y agoWhy do we screw over researchers who make innovative discoveries in industry too? Employers own employees, that's the business model everywhere. This outrage about academia is maybe ok on its own, but academia is for the public benefit, that's why you work there in the first place. Meanwhile, inventors get squat for their patents in commercial enterprises whose entire mission is monetizing work.
