Reddit Spends 55% of its revenue on R&D
- catchnear4321 3y ago> Note: There are some dumb stories floating out there about Reddit CEO Steve Huffman getting paid $193 million last year. You can ignore those in general since they are really about stock and options awards with a long vesting period. And you can specifically ignore them for this story since those costs aren't included in the R&D totals. stock and options are both forms of compensation, in that they can be converted into simoleans. maybe not at a fixed rate, maybe not a sure thing. but to ignore them? did spez pay for the article just for that blurb?

- petercooper 3y agoTo be fair, under the current ridiculous IRS rules, all software development is "R&D", so it's not particularly surprising. Perhaps when only 10% of their expenditure was on R&D, software development wasn't included in that (much as it is not in my own country).
