Show HN: Gemini OpenAI API Proxy. Serverless
- rbatista19 3y agoEven if you use a VPN to get the Gemini API key, doesn't the Google server check your IP server location?
- johnd0e_ 3y agoSure it does. But Vercel and Netlify servers are located in US, so..
- rbatista19 3y agoGotcha, thanks!
- WiSaGaN 3y agoopenrouter provides access to gemini, and it has openai compatible API too. [1] [1]: https://openrouter.ai/docs https://openrouter.ai/docs
- anonzzzies 3y agoWhat’s with the sad region limitations on this thing? We are a company in a region that is allowed , but I live/work in a region that’s not allowed and the thing keeps being annoying. Does Google ever learn?
- lobito14 3y agoCompliance with local laws, probably regarding privacy.
- android521 3y agobut i can use openai in my country but not google ai. It is quite annoying that Google restricts access based on countries.

- johnd0e_ 3y agoThat is sad. But fixable, with this openai-gemini project. Try it!

- johnd0e_ 3y agoThis proxy can solve your problem. Just deploy it to Vercel or Netlify.
- printvoid 3y agoWhat is the advantage because the model is anyways gpt-turbo 3.5 and not 4 which costs money.
- silly_ninja 3y agoI had a similar question in mind.
- johnd0e_ 3y agoModel is in fact "gemini-pro" (and "gemini-pro-vision"). And in case of OpenAI "gpt-3.5-turbo" also costs money, if you want to use it via API.
