The trick then is to time the selling ...
- toomuchtodo 3y agoYou don’t have to get out at the top, just higher than your entry point. Surf the wave, don’t drown.
- ChuckMcM 3y agoExactly. The article of course is focused on nVidia which is making money (unlike the dot com businesses) but the 'bubbleness' will happen if AI startups that aren't making money go public anyway. If there isn't a way to get retail investors involved then just the rich people will get fleeced. That said, it was interesting to watch the nVidia recovery from the bitcoin miner demand dropoff. One hopes they would react quickly and effectively when the bubble bursts and demand for tensor chips drops by 16 to 20dB.
- jdsully 3y agoWhen comparing to .com the fortunes of Cisco, Sun, and 3COM are really the comparables to Nvidia. Their hardware got commoditized and their valuations went back to reality. Cisco still has not hit their .com peak 25 years later.
- ed_mercer 3y agoArguably, higher than your entry point plus the amount lost to inflation.
