Picking locks requires a skill that has some level of risk to use and develop. Pressing a button on a Flipper Zero to relay a signal from a key fob in a house requires no skill. The Total Addressable Market of car thieves is now much larger with less skills. Of course it's going to result in more cars being stolen.
My 2003 Alero has an anti-theft system built in to detect when the car was being hot-wired. It sensed electrical noise on the ignition. I know this as it started to malfunction in its old age and would lock me out from starting for 10 minutes as the ignition switch degraded over time. There are plenty of features like that which auto manufacturers clearly need to implement to make theft more difficult.
