Tuition is the act of teaching... I sure hope they aren't eliminating that. It is indeed the fees that are being eliminated.

- dangus 3y agoIn US vernacular it works like this: Tuition = the money you pay for your schooling, I.e., credit hours. Fees = Costs on top of tuition like registration fees, application fees, and other miscellaneous charges that aren’t represented in the per-credit hour price of school. If you told someone in the US that their school was eliminating fees they’d take that to mean that they were getting a small discount on a still-very large cost. Think in the realm of $30-100 per semester. American English has basically detached the word “tuition” to have anything to do with the teaching.
- recursive 3y agoNo, tuition is only the cost associated. Or at least, it certainly can be the cost. I've never heard any other usage.
