I have a 1.44 MB floppy here somewhere that boots MS-DOS with Windows 1.01. I do not remember if I even had to do anything special to fit that on a single bootable floppy. Probably not. From the first item I find on archive.org it looks like Windows 1.0 was distributed on four 360 kB floppies.
- drewzero1 3y agoI had Windows 1.01 and 2.03 on boot floppies, they were both small enough to just copy the files into a DOS bootdisk and fit fine. However in my experience most of the programs that I wanted to run in Windows that wouldn't run in DOS required at least Windows 3.x to work.
