Functional Organization Structure.
Keep in mind, Apple, unlike most companies - has an extremely functional org structure.
So by definition, managers should be experts in their discipline. Aka “no bozos”.
(Unlike most Fortune 500 companies, where you could get away with not being an expert in your department - but just a good people manager)
- jesterson 3y agoGood expert but horrible people manager is happening more often than not. And usually it is more disastrous than good people manager/bad expert. It's great to have both, however those are rare gems.
