I quit instantly one day after being a confirmed addict for years. I was just fine with the exhausted feeling, it only lased a few weeks and then I had more energy than I ever would have realized. After detoxification had run its course, it felt relly good and it was amazing to realize what I has been missing. Certainly could get more things accomplished without crashing, not less.
