Don't confuse malice and stupidity. None of the things that are being highlighted in the press were deliberate, they're just unintended side effects of poor decisions.
The recent google offerings have a real "designed by committee" feel which maybe is reflective of whatevers going on culturally there now? It feels like they're too big and institutional to do this right? Unless it really is because some small group has an agenda?
