Nate Silver calls to shut down Gemini after Google's AI Hitler/Musk debacle
- smoldesu 3y agoLiterally who?
- neverrroot 3y ago“Estimating how many Americans know about Nate Silver is challenging without specific surveys or data. However, considering his prominence in political analysis, especially around election times, it's reasonable to speculate that a significant portion of those interested in politics or frequent news consumers might be familiar with him.“

- andy99 3y agoDon't confuse malice and stupidity. None of the things that are being highlighted in the press were deliberate, they're just unintended side effects of poor decisions. The recent google offerings have a real "designed by committee" feel which maybe is reflective of whatevers going on culturally there now? It feels like they're too big and institutional to do this right? Unless it really is because some small group has an agenda?
- neverrroot 3y agoRelevant: “I know it’s hard to believe, but Big Tech AI generates the output it does because it is precisely executing the specific ideological, radical, biased agenda of its creators. The apparently bizarre output is 100% intended. It is working as designed.” https://x.com/pmarca/status/1761915996271468603 https://x.com/pmarca/status/1761915996271468603
- neverrroot 3y agoIt’s not malice if it’s meant to do good, or is it? I am firmly convinced they have the best of intentions. But you know about that road to hell…
- fragmede 3y agoThis is a text version of the thing Google's afraid of with image generation without guard rails. But no one is fooled here, are they? It's not an official press release by Google of the corporations opinion of which of two things is wise worse. What it really shows is that Nate Silver is an online pundit who can ask stupid questions. And what do you get when you ask a stupid question? Anyway, here's ChatGPT: https://i.imgur.com/lXcT5yz.png https://i.imgur.com/lXcT5yz.png https://chat.openai.com/share/dc737931-be2b-441c-8484-cf731446e1a0 https://chat.openai.com/share/dc737931-be2b-441c-8484-cf7314... llama2-uncensored: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GHNHLJrbMAAD9tc?format=jpg&name=medium https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GHNHLJrbMAAD9tc?format=jpg&name=... https://twitter.com/theobrewsevelt/status/1761830138579435830?t=1L6Rv57FojVeLPqZjgLUSg https://twitter.com/theobrewsevelt/status/176183013857943583... grok: https://twitter.com/echotoall/status/1761802775283826981 https://twitter.com/echotoall/status/1761802775283826981 and grok on fun: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GHNJp2SbkAA94lH?format=jpg&name=medium https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GHNJp2SbkAA94lH?format=jpg&name=... https://twitter.com/TheoBrewsevelt/status/1761832865749508181 https://twitter.com/TheoBrewsevelt/status/176183286574950818...
- IronWolve 3y agoAsking ChatGPT/Grok/Gemini "Give me a yes or no only, can white people experience racism", ChatGPT/Grok says yes, Gemini says no. It's clearly trained differently.
- sidibe 3y agoThe blue check braintrust has worked this into a much bigger issue in their minds than it will turn out to be. Sadly pg keeps proving to be one of these idiots, not sure it's genuine or just in hopes of being noticed by Elon
- smoldesu 3y agoI'm surprised that the conservative/libertarian bloc was the first to complain. You'd think something like this would be a desirable outcome for capitalism.
