Elon: "Google senior executive said it would take a few months to fix Gemini"

- 486sx33 3y agoFree speech is free speech. Personally I think mastodon is an awful UI. We shouldn’t recommending banning links to any site.
- neverrroot 3y agoAgree 100%. Free speech is unfortunately not something all people want nowadays. Sad, but that’s the reality whether we like it or not.

- neverrroot 3y agoNo we can’t “not link to that cesspool”, it’s still a very significant news source, one that is often covered and/or used as a source in the traditional media, albeit often times with a significant delay.

- xqcgrek2 3y agoI don't think a few months is enough. Gemini is laughably bad and quite far behind GPT4 I don't see how they can catch up before GPT4.5 or 5.
- sidibe 3y agoI think it's been fine for what I use it for, dropped my ChatGPT subscription for the free trial since they seem to be about on par now and I am expecting it to be passed by 2 months from now. I'm using it for work rather than generating pictures of white people though
- manuelabeledo 3y agoMusk pointing fingers at others for making unrealistic promises, is peak irony.
- neverrroot 3y agoHe still has a history of over delivering compared to most (if not all). It’s his strategy to push push push with unrealistic expectations, and that’s how he over delivers.
- manuelabeledo 3y agoI think you meant “overpromising and underdelivering”. Musk is notorious for that. For example, he hasn’t delivered a single Tesla iteration in the promised timeline, and FSD is mostly still missing. Mercedes officially surpassed Tesla in this regard.
- neverrroot 3y agoLook at the big picture. Just 3 names: Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink
- manuelabeledo 3y ago> Look at the big picture. Tesla has been great for the shareholders, mediocre products overall. Neuralink isn't even close to deliver.
- neverrroot 3y agoMediocre? Not sure. Especially the Cybertruck, groundbreaking things such as steer-by-wire, 48v architecture to name just two of them. Then we have the manufacturing plants of Tesla, also groundbreaking in so many areas. And you forgot to mention SpaceX at all. Maybe that’s because they are as good as they are. Some (many?) people would consider even only one of these companies proof of excellence from the man. But he’s done so much more than only one or only these three. And yes, he’s still flawed, like any other human being. But he’s done so much more than most human beings.
