It would have had little to no impact. To run it, you need the 512KB upgrade and a disk drive. To get decent looking graphics you'd also need to shell out money for an RGB monitor. It would have been substantially cheaper to get an NES and the DK cartridge for it.
- PaulHoule 3y agoIt was insane how many peripherals Radio Shack sold for the Coco, I'm certain I spent more on Coco stuff from 1980 to 1987 or so than I did on the 286-based computer that I replaced it with. The 286 started out with a monochrome display and was crazy powerful (could emulate a Z80 running CP/M at more than 3 times original speed) but didn't have an operating system as good as OS/9 which, for the Coco3, had a windowing system a bit like Plan 9.
