There's a word for this, it's called "managing," which means, "to extract value from." Anything that manages a problem exists to extract value from it - not to kill the golden goose by solving it.
It's why there is an entire class of people who benefit from creating chaos and disorder, because it creates opportunities for them to manage, or extract value, from it. If you build something, they are the ones who arrive to "problematize" and wreck it.
- mberning 3y agoIn some cases sure, but some things require management due to the nature of reality, and there is nothing to be done about it other than manage the problem. Take something banal such as DLP tools. There is no way to “solve” people stealing data, so tools were created to manage the problem. Then comes the team of people to manage the tool. Then the management structure to oversee the team. And so on. It would be nice to believe that this seemingly small problem could be “solved” once and for all, but that remains to be seen.
